Anabel Montano of Arlington Honored at Mary Baldwin College

At the Staunton Military Academy (SMA) Reunion Weekend and Spring Awards event, Anabel Montano of Arlington in the Virginia Women's Institute for Leadership (VWIL) at Mary Baldwin College was awarded the National Society of the Daughters of the America Revolution: A ribbon, certificate, and stipend awarded to the senior in the upper 25 percent of her graduating class who will seek a commission after graduation; Senior Academic Award: Certificate given to the senior with the highest GPA.

VWIL is the nation's premier leadership program for young women. The female Corps of Cadets is organized according to military structure, and its comprehensive program builds tomorrow's leaders in military and civilian service. VWIL is Virginia's most ethnically diverse student corps and it combines academics, physical training, leadership practice, and co-curricular activities.

Mary Baldwin College (MBC) is a forward-looking master's level university offering a variety of coeducational programs at 11 Virginia locations and, at the same time, one of the nation's oldest women's colleges. It will begin offering doctoral degrees for the first time when its Murphy Deming College of Health Sciences opens in June 2014 on a new branch campus in Fishersville, VA.
