Irmamarie Avelsgard of San Pedro Attends Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Conference

Mary Baldwin College student Irmamarie Avelsgard of San Pedro traveled to San Diego in April to attend the American Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (ASBMB) annual meeting. She is also a member of the local Undergraduates Affiliates Network of the ASBMB. According to Maria Craig, assistant professor of chemistry, Avelsgard and her fellow students on the trip had a wonderful time and "grew in their understanding of the magnitude of work biochemists and the extent and variety of research that is ongoing on an international level." The participants also presented posters at the gathering.
