Tisha Wilkerson of Fredericksburg Honored at Mary Baldwin College

2014 Apr 28

At the Staunton Military Academy (SMA) Reunion Weekend and Spring Awards event, Tisha Wilkerson of Fredericksburg in the Virginia Women's Institute for Leadership (VWIL) at Mary Baldwin College was awarded the Sarah K. Small Award: Two $1,360 scholarships given to two cadets — seniors who have exemplified service and commitment to community and country and who are commissioning upon graduation — selected by VWIL in conjunction with the president of the college.

VWIL is the nation's premier leadership program for young women. The female Corps of Cadets is organized according to military structure, and its comprehensive program builds tomorrow's leaders in military and civilian service. VWIL is Virginia's most ethnically diverse student corps and it combines academics, physical training, leadership practice, and co-curricular activities.

Mary Baldwin College (MBC) is a forward-looking master's level university offering a variety of coeducational programs at 11 Virginia locations and, at the same time, one of the nation's oldest women's colleges. It will begin offering doctoral degrees for the first time when its Murphy Deming College of Health Sciences opens in June 2014 on a new branch campus in Fishersville, VA.
