MBU senior Myra Diehl earned third place in the William Faulkner Literary Competition for her one-act play "Rehearsal Report." She had never written a play before taking a directing class at Mary Baldwin.

MBU senior Diamonique Anderson directed the Election Live broadcast on election night in November. Working with more than 60 other students, she helped track the results of state and local races and dove into relevant topics for voters electing a new Virginia governor.

MBU junior Talula Mays won the trophy for Artistic Merit for her short film "Delicacy" in the college film competition at the Poe Film Festival in Richmond.

The scholarship is awarded on a yearly basis to 12 qualifying students across the country, this year the scholarships totaled $36,000 and the students were each awarded $3,000 each.

Mary Baldwin University student Tyler Dale was awarded the Ariel Award which recognizes outstanding program service and leadership to the Shakespeare and Performance program.

The Nancy Morse Evans Leadership Award was created in 2017 through the generosity of Nancy Morse Evans, Class of 1970. This award recognizes one occupational therapy, physical therapy, and RN to BSN graduating student who demonstrate academic excellence, clinical distinction, and a record of service and leadership while in their program. The award includes scholarship funds as well as recognition on a special plaque housed at Murphy Deming College of Health Sciences.
